The Algonquin Argonauts Cheer Program will be transitioning to a sideline-only model for the time being, temporarily stepping away from competition cheer.
This decision was made with careful consideration and deep appreciation for the many accomplishments our competition teams have achieved over the years. Our athletes have demonstrated remarkable dedication, discipline, and teamwork, and those experiences remain an important and celebrated part of our program’s history.
By focusing on sideline cheer, we will continue to support our community’s youth athletic programs while maintaining our commitment to athlete development, sportsmanship, and positive team culture. This temporary transition allows us to strengthen our foundation and ensure we are best positioned to serve our athletes and families.
We remain proud of our program’s legacy and optimistic about its future. We thank our athletes, families, coaches, and supporters for their continued trust and partnership.
Algonquin Argos Cheer Squads
Sideline Cheer - Teams will cheer at football games and perform at halftime. They will perform at one competition. They will also enjoy all the fun Argonauts festivities such as Parades, Camps, Homecoming, Team Parties, Little Scholars etc. The time commitment to this squad is much less.
Challenger Cheer - The mission of the Pop Warner Challenger Division is to bring the Pop Warner experience to those special needs individuals.
Pop Warner’s overall goals are to enable young people to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment and by establishing a Challenger Division Pop Warner is providing an opportunity for everyone to participate in the great sport of Cheer.
Pop Warner objectives are to inspire our youth, regardless of race, creed, religion or national origin to practice the ideals of sportsmanship, scholarship and physical fitness as reflected in the life of the late Glenn Scobie “Pop” Warner. Pop Warner Strives to make the game fun for all boys and girls.
The program stresses learning lessons of value far beyond the playing or spirit days of those involved, such as; self-discipline, teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership, and sportsmanship.
The philosophy of the Pop Warner Challenger Division is to provide the framework for local Pop Warner programs to offer a structured cheer program for participants with special needs. The Challenger program is non-competitive and no score is kept.
