Algonquin Argonauts Football Team
The goal of the Algonquin Argonauts Youth Football program is to provide kids with an opportunity to participate in an organized, supervised, and educational football program geared at teaching the sport of football, while emphasizing the values of teamwork, fundamentals, competitiveness, sportsmanship, and fitness within a safe and fun environment. No tryouts are ever required and anyone who meets the age and academic guidelines may sign up.
Registration
Registration opens in January. Registration costs for each participant include Football helmet, shoulder pads, practice pants, game pants, 7 piece pad set, practice jersey, (1) Game Jersey for Tiny mite/ Mighty Mite (6U & 8U), and Home/Away jerseys for Junior Pee Wee (10U) through Junior Varsity (14U). Postseason game fees are also covered. Travel expenses for out of state playoff games and tournaments are the responsibility of the traveling families.
Practice & Games
All teams practice at Westfield Elementary and start on August 1st. Tiny Mite and Mighty Mite (6U & 8U) will practice 4 days per week from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday for the first 3 weeks and then drop to 3 days a week being Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm. Junior Pee Wee through Junior Varsity (10U-14U) teams will practice 5 nights per week through the beginning of school, then 3 nights per week with the times being 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.
Game Schedule and Playoff
Football teams have an 8 game regular season schedule that starts the last weekend in August or the first weekend in September with at least 3 home games. Away games can be anywhere from 30-60 minutes of driving distance from Westfield Elementary
depending on our opponent for that week. All HOME games are played at Carpentersville Middle School. Playoffs are only for Junior Pee Wee through Midget and they normally start in week 9. Tiny Mites and Mighty Mites may participate in post-season bowl games at the expense of the families.
